This course is for learners of all abilities and provides a more flexible and ‘hands-on’ approach to learning in practical and occupational settings.
As it is now unlikely that a single occupation will take employees from the beginning to the end of their working lives, transferability and adaptability are important skills. This qualification has been uniquely structured with this in mind as learners will have the opportunity to learn for work, through work and about work with a real outcome that will deliver skills for life.

Because the course places an emphasis on practical work, this qualification will appeal to learners who are better suited to developing their skills in a practical setting. Coursework is the major part of the Occupational Studies course: you will be marked on the practical tasks you complete and you should be able to recall knowledge of these tasks.
Each award will be comprised of two units from within a related area. Over the two years you will complete 4 units. This is equivalent to 2 GCSEs. This course would be good preparation for careers in most building related trades, motor vehicle work, tourism and leisure industries and further educational courses. Availability will depend on numbers choosing specific units.
